Heathens aplenty right here

by baldilocks

I’m having one of those moments again. So I’ll do what I always do: point you to something interesting.

Man tries to save the souls of carcass-worshipers.

In a recent Facebook post, musician and investigative writer Daryl Davis described how he’s been treated by others and members of his own race [he’s black], from being called a “sellout” to every imaginable racial slur. Until this week….

Davis was part of a panel in Philadelphia aimed at reducing hatred and violence in the country. This included both right and left wing people who he states were successfully getting along. However, he says that Antifa members upset about the conference refused to join the party, accusing him of being a “white supremacist!”

Davis has been the subject of the documentary Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America and a Ted Talk about his adventures. He’s traveled to over 50 countries and played music in 49 states as a professional blues musician.

For decades, he’s interacted with and interviewed people with opposing viewpoints. He has even convinced a couple hundred KKK members to disjoin. He’s interviewed members of all different hate and extremist groups, both black and white. His most famous story was about his relationship with Klan leaders and was the subject of his book, Klan-destine Relationships.

Read the whole thing and watch the videos.

And know this: there’s an element in these United States that has a vested interest in keep Americans of different races at each other’s throats. Those who hate this man for reaching out to his perceived enemies feed on anger, hatred and fear. They are addicted to it; if they could shoot it into their veins, they would.

Mr. Davis is a hero.

…that way they can’t pretend they aren’t what they are.

If Herman Cain is making people this nuts then that suggest they are scared of him.

They should be.

An even better example is the Doctor business in Wisconsin. Think about it. Two generations ago with the Judeo-Christian values taught in every school to some degree it would have been unthinkable to commit the type of public fraud that is being done by doctors and teachers in Madison this weekend. I mean even Breitbart got a note:

How many honest doctors looking at this are embarrassed? How many teachers are forfeiting any moral authority over their students by these measures? How many will look at the examples set by the senate in Wisconsin Do they even care?

The Right Sphere nails it:

What we’re seeing is an ideology devoid of a moral compass. This is Progressivism laid bare for all the world to see. It’s disgusting. This is the Nanny State, cradle-to-grave entitlement society. They’ve turned public sector jobs into welfare programs and this is what happens when someone tries to make it sustainable.

It is important to see things for what they are. The real question is will the left eventually look in a mirror and see, or will it only be selling conspiracy theories?

Update: We’ve got honest to God communists (is that an oxymoron?) actually looking for revolution, I kid you not:

Money quote:

I think that the influence and effect of whats going on in Egypt you know and around the world in terms of people rising up against dictators and oppressive regimes and I think the people are open to the possibilities to building a revolutionary movement.

Remember there was an election and the Republicans won, they won majorities in the state, they won the governor’s office and you have actual communists calling for actual revolution comparing the results of a free election to dictators and oppressive regimes.

And check out the comments in the Washington post Charles Lane a reliable liberal looked at what happened and called it what he was:

Yet today in Wisconsin, anger and vilification are once again the order of the day — and the incivility emanates from the progressive end of the spectrum, including, no doubt, many of the same people who blamed right-wing vitriol for creating a climate of violence in Arizona. Union-backed demonstrators, furious at Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s plans for reining in public-sector unions, equate him with Hosni Mubarak and Adolf Hitler, in disgusting mimickry of some Tea Party members’ inflammatory linkage between Obama and the evil dictators of history. (See Photo no. 10 in this gallery) or Photo 13 in this gallery .

Meanwhile, progressive voices in the media fanned the flames, spreading misinformation and outright falsehoods with a zest that would make Glenn Beck blush

And he was torn to pieces over it by the left.

Meanwhile here is Scott Walker

That was fox. Watching ABC this morning, they haven’t touched the fake doctor notes. If that gets into the MSM the game is totally over nationwide. Every single day this goes on GOP prospects for 2012 improve.

Nancy Pelosi seeing the fight between Jim Clyburn and Steny Hoyer for Minority Whip has demonstrated the ability she showed all during her time as speaker to make the tough decisions to solve problems.

In a statement released late Friday night, Pelosi signaled an end to the ongoing battle between Clyburn and Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer (Md.) to be the next House Minority Whip — the second-ranking leadership position in the minority.

“Should I receive the honor of serving as House Democratic Leader, I will nominate Congressman Jim Clyburn of South Carolina to the number three leadership position,” Pelosi said in a statement sent to reporters at 11:01pm.

Number 3 position? She is not bumping John Larson as caucus chairman so what exactly is this #3 position that I’ve never heard of. What does it do? I’m sure Politico can tell us

Clyburn’s title and responsibilities were not specified in the announcement from Pelosi’s office, and Democratic leadership aides scrambled to explain the deal to reporters.

So let me get this straight. The Democratic Party faced with making an actual decision between two presumably qualified candidates for

South Park has the Democratic leadership pegged

the job that Jim Clyburn (who happens to be black) currently holds have agreed to put Steny Hoyer (who happens to be white) in Mr. Clyburn’s job and to invent a job, presumably with staff and offices paid via government funds, with no title and no specific duties for Jim Clyburn.

Who said that democrats didn’t know how to create or save jobs?

Hmmm let’s think about this, a totally unneeded job suddenly created for a member of a racial minority to avoid a conflict in an organization. What is the word that people have for a person who gets such a job for the sake of appearances. Oh I know, TOKEN.

I guess self-respect doesn’t come into play when power is involved.

Update: Separate but Equal? OUCH!

I’ve always remembered a particular episode of Gilligan’s Island (Gilligan vs. Gilligan available online here) that had a particular exchange between Mr. Howell and the Russian spy posing as Gilligan. Mr. Howell puts his chess piece on an illegal square. Mr. Howell reacts indignantly:

Mr. Howell: Young man are you accusing a Howell of cheating? I’ll have you know I’m far too wealthy.

Spy Gilligan: To cheat?

Mr. Howell: No, to be accused!

It reminds me that there once was a time when our icons such as JFK were far too important to have their dirty laundry aired in public.

How does that relate to The Rangel/Waters issues? Consider this; as Black America gradually progressed in rights and influence, they also gradually took the places at the seats of power that their growing influence and the slow progress toward legal equality demanded.

Like all men and woman those people who attained power and office were individuals with their own strengths, weaknesses and foibles. However those foibles while they might be known in their own communities were not aired to the general pubic. Not because the community approved but because you didn’t tear down your own when it took so long to get to the mountaintop (this is of course not unique to the Black community). As blacks migrated to the democratic party and as the party became more dependent on their vote, it became a priority for the party as well to keep any problems in house with a tact cloak of silence. Thus any such suggestion became a racial issue and the proponent of such questions a racist.

Now however things are different, the digital age forces light on things that were once hidden (read Rev Wright) and with our first black president (sorry Bill Clinton) it is impossible to pretend that African American’s place in American society is defined primarily by the sins of the past.

James Clyburn not withstanding, Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters ethics issues have nothing to do with race and everything to do with actions. The actions against them are not signs of the return of the Jim Crow past meant to keep Black America underfoot. It also shows we have progressed beyond the equally offensive but less violent era of tokenism.

This is the sign of a new era where we can look at a member of congress of any race and see…a member of congress. This means we can judge said member not on the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I think that’s progress and America in general and the Black community in particular are better off for it.

Update: Morgan Freeman knew what he was talking about.

As does Col Allen West:
