Just so everyone understands, there the John Stewart rally exists for two different purposes. One of which has already been achieved.

For Comedy Central, it is PR and even if only two drunks show up they have managed to get the ratings and promoting they want. Comedy Central has achieved its goal.

For the left, it is different, over and over the left has tried to ignore, silence, dismiss and destroy the tea party to no effect. Finally they tried to outdraw them, but the Sharpton and the One Nation rallies were spectacular failures.

So they have gone all in to achieve the goal. What goal? As as One Nation. The goal here is to paint democrats as energized and engaged and ready to vote and to get the MEDIA to report this.

Let’s make one thing clear. Stewart rally Keg Party is going to be very well attended (Oprah, Arianna and comedy central paying for the trip isn’t going to hurt either. I don’t know if they will outdraw Beck, (or if they will pick up their trash, but I suspect Stewart is not stupid enough to let his crowd trash the mall.)

It is NOT going to be an indication of democratic strength or purpose. It is going to be about a bunch of people getting to see their favorite comics and have a fun time (Think Dan’s Bake sale except Rush didn’t pay for people to go).

The Mainstream media WILL paint it as a sign that democrats are energized and will talk about nothing else on Monday, with the goal of actually energizing the unenergized voters. When Joe Scarborough decided that One Nation wasn’t worth talking about since “He was watching football” I guarantee you Morning Joe have time to comment on it and guest after guest from the left media will be talking about how it is a game-changer.

The goal will be to make it a game changer. It will fail.

Update: Sissy Willis on the subject

Update 2: Doug Powers comments at Michelle’s

Huffington and Winfrey are spending a lot of cash to ship people to the rally — people who wouldn’t have attended unless somebody gave them a free ride. As far as I’m concerned, Arianna and Oprah’s money is helping make an ironic point for the right.

Examiner Article One Nation an empty teacup

My latest examiner article focus on the failures of the One Nation rally:

So did they rock the mall and cause the nation to take notice? Not Quite:

The total failure of the One Nation rally to achieve its ends is the type of discouraging failure that the left doesn’t need at this point in the election cycle.

After Glenn put up his I told you so post he notes something significant:

Now why should some professor in Knoxville be able to determine what our national reporters in Washington and New York City could not?

Do we not pay these people — through the extra pennies we pay on a product for advertisements — to know these things?

I think it’s not just a question of paying attention, it’s all about what you choose to report.

The MSM hasn’t chosen to report the failure of the One Nation rally. They haven’t chosen to show the trash photos or the comparison shots of the crowd. They didn’t choose to report on the DOJ scandal or Van Jones et/al.

Yet a vast amount of Americans knew because of social media. The MSM were irrelevant because they came late to a story that was already told in e-mail boxes, tweets and facebook pages worldwide.

Goliath might not be paying attention but it could be because Goliath would rather be ignorant about a fact they don’t want to acknowledge.

One might survive in a niche market but if your business is information and analysis and you are being scooped by people in the street you’d better look for another business pronto.

Update: Along those same lines I wonder if the Torrance Daily Breeze will find this story newsworthy?

California Democrat Rep. Jane Harman’s family business is laying off American workers – including engineering employees in California — and shifting jobs overseas.

If history is the judge I wouldn’t bet on the breeze

…or will they treat it like the DOJ hearing and totally ignore it?

I have to run between 7:15 & 7:45 but I’ll keep an eye on Morning Joe.

At 8:46 before the break Joe Mentioned that he has gotten tweets about not mentioning the OneNation rally and will answer it after the break. Bringing it up now.

8:50 a.m. Comes back shows a clip says on weekends he watches Soccer and Bama football not interested, pooh poohs it. Doesn’t give context or the aerial shot that shows the size of the crowds. Totally amazing!

Update: I would think this story might be of some interest:

Not only were thousands of supporters given free rides by unions and the NAACP to the rally, far left teachers at High School for Math, Science and Engineering were giving students class credits to attend.
