Lisa Murkowski managed to get a favorable court ruling to get the write-in list to the voters.

Dan Riehl noticed that the rules to get on the write-in list were, pretty loose.

so one blog post later and Presto

That’s only up to the letter “C” Smitty comments:

Perhaps Lisa, Arlen Specter, and Charlie Crist can come together and found the “It’s Our Party And We’ll Cry If We Want To Party”.

and the MSM got it wrong:

Just hours before the final deadline, more than 100 Alaskans came out Thursday to file as write-in candidates in an effort to thwart Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s bid to retain her Senate seat.

At the urging of a local talk radio host, scores of people signed up to be write-in candidates with the Alaska Division of Elections before registration closed. …

But Dan corrects them

She mentioned the idea to me on a phone call, then I called some friends in Alaska to see if it was feasible. I learned we only had 24 hours, so I called my colleagues from Breitbart Media. Ultimately, that led to this Big Government post on the topic.

I sent it to some blogger friends, Ace is one who picked up on it. A reader of Ace’s placed a link to the Big Government item in comments at Just One Minute – pointing it out to a resident of Alaska.

Then that JOM reader went down and registered, calling the radio station afterward. They recounted the complete story in comments at JOM. See how easy reporting can be, my friend?

Dan you are a genius!

…until it isn’t any more apparently.

Bonnie Jack, who was a Murkowski campaign elections observer for the count of absentee votes, sent out an email this morning. “Join us at the Kick-off of Senator Lisa’s campaign — with a theme of “write in her name in and fill in the oval.”

“Denai’na Convention Center, third floor and hopefully out on the sunny deck, 5 pm. Bring your family including children, friends and business associates. We plan to make history!”

I am dying to see Karl Rove, Charles Krauthammer et/al going after Murkowski in the same way they were so anxious to go after Christine O’Donnell.

One of the things I found last weekend when interviewing Tea Party activists is they DO NOT trust the Republican Party. It is stuff like this that earns their distrust. Stacy McCain says this:

Lisa Murkowski is as consumed with pathological narcissism as her worst enemies said?

Jonah Goldberg gives an excellent analysis and concludes with this Zinger!

How is she anything more than Arlen Specter in a dress?

To Lisa I say this. I know it is hard to lose a race but you’ve got a family and a life. Don’t define yourself by an office. It looks really REALLY bad.

This is the first shot that will cumulative in the nomination of 2012 that will determine if the republican party becomes the majority party or dies. From what I’m seeing of the reaction of the establishment it doesn’t look promising.

Update: Jim Geraghty (who I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself to at the blogcon debate) said this:

the RINO-hunters have a point that the moderates never seem to be willing to compromise or put the party’s interest first.

and from HotAir reports from her announcement:

This is one woman who won’t quit on Alaska

Earth to Lisa, you didn’t quit, you were fired by the voters.

Stacy at the Spectator talks about Miller’s victory and makes an important point:

Miller’s victory was a vindication for a lot of people who have grown tired of seeing the GOP act as accomplices to the remorseless expansion of federal power. The campaign succeeded in large measure because the Tea Party movement has turned long-simmering conservative discontent with big-government Republicanism into an organized national force. Ever since the 2008 TARP bailout of Wall Street — for which Murkowski voted — more and more GOP voters have joined the insurgency that helped fuel the Miller campaign in accomplishing a rare thing: The defeat of an incumbent senator in a Republican primary.

It should not be forgotten that many establishment republicans were talking “repair” rather than “repeal” obamacare. The establishment Republicans are a lot more interested in driving the chuck wagon the stopping the gravy train. It’s only the tea party that keeps them honest. Smitty has a metaphor for this here.

Stacy Has direct updates from Alaska, to wit:

ALASKA SENATE COUNTDOWN TODAY UPDATE: Miller Leads by 1,460 Votes After More Absentee Ballots Counted UPDATE: Miller Campaign Spokesman Expects ‘Good Day at the End of the Day’

Can someone please explain to me why some outfit in the MSM hasn’t snatched this guy up? They can’t all be afraid of Johnson.
