The biggest news from the interview than Stacy and I had with Sean Bielat (other than byebyebarney.org) was the news the president Obama will be coming to Massachusetts to campaign for Deval Patrick.

I seem to recall that the president came to Massachusetts just before election day in January and it had an excellent effect…for republicans.

With republicans dying to link their opponents to the president I can’t think of any move that the democrats can make that will cause them more grief in congressional races in the state, that being said since there is a three-way divide for Governor this might actually help Patrick rally his base…if his base was pleased with Obama.

But what do I know? I’m just a fat guy in a fedora.

Yeah I know he got it up first, but he’s a faster typist than me….but I’ll have VIDEO shortly Heh Heh Heh!

Yesterday memeorandum was all aflutter about Democrats coming back, about the large leads for democrats in polls. Captain Ed Morrissey (he will always be Captain Ed to me) however finds it is just another example of the time share media in action:

And how did the Democrats manage this rather remarkable comeback? Well, the WaPo/ABC pollster managed to find their usual sample gap. They went from a 31/25/39 D/R/I split in September in the general sample and 31/26/37 among registered voters, to 33/23/29 in the general sample and 34/25/37 among registered voters. That nine-point advantage to Democrats among RVs is almost twice what it was in the previous sample.

Of course it might be that democrats are using the new tactics like hiding they are democrats:

With voters in an anti-incumbent mood and a national headwind against their party, some freshman Democrats are touting themselves as unaffiliated outsiders — and it may help them win reelection.

Running against Washington isn’t easy when you’ve got an office on Capitol Hill. But Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper (D-Pa.) has effectively positioned herself as a challenger in her race against Republican Mike Kelly.

One of Dahlkemper’s first TV ads slams Congress and never mentions that she’s an incumbent.

It gets even better, Check out this “Deval Patrick” ad running in Massachusetts:

Not only is this ad missing the party of Deval Patrick and Tim Murray it’s missing Deval Patrick!

This is where the Democrats are in Massachusetts. Their candidate for governor is so unpopular that the Lt. Gov is featured in ads instead of him. If Tim Cahill wasn’t running as an independent Patrick would have no prayer against Charlie Baker.

Memeorandum thread here

…apparently he has decided that if the majority of voters in an election carried out according to law vote a particularly way and the results are certified as correct he will not commit to honor them.

I think it’s rather odd, after all if the voters elect him of course he should consider himself legally elected…

…oh sorry he’s talking about the Tax rollback initiative:

Governor Deval Patrick declined to say yesterday whether he would implement a tax rollback if the voters mandate it in November, pitting him against all three of his campaign rivals, who say they would abide by the referendum.

So lets get this straight, the will of the voters only counts if they are electing him. I didn’t realize the oath of office requires one to only enforce the laws you like.

This is a real pet peeve of mine, you enforce the laws, if they stink you change them. If you decide for example not to enforce say the immigration laws then who is to stop a different gov to not enforce the gun laws, or the equal housing laws?

If Gov Patrick is not ashamed of himself it’s only because liberal self righteousness trumps all, it’s a religion without a tax exemption…

…then again maybe I’m wrong about the tax exemption part

I think this is a whole lot more important that a stupid slip of the tongue.

and it deserves a memeorandum thread a lot more too

BTW if you are not familiar with Question 3, check out my interview with Carla Howell here.

It is not the same as it actually passing or being signed by the Gov, but it’s a start:

The measure, which passed on a 28-10 vote as an amendment to the budget, would bar the state from doing business with any company found to break federal laws barring illegal immigrant hiring. It would also toughen penalties for creating or using fake identification documents, and explicitly deny in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants.

The amendment would also require the state’s public health insurance program to verify residency through the Department of Homeland Security, and would require the state to give legal residents priority for subsidized housing.

Hotair asks some political questions:

Assuming it passes the Massachusetts house, does Deval Patrick dare veto it? He’ll want to, of course, but he’s up for reelection this year and 84 percent support ain’t beanbag.

Since the Mass House isn’t as contested as it should be they might just not pass it, but then again maybe they know the difference between 300 & 10,000.
