A history lesson for those preaching civility

Update: The Path to violence explained via Althouse/glenn:

1. Frances Fox Piven advocates left-wing violence by the unemployed against the government.

2. Glenn Beck criticizes her for this, calling such talk dangerous.

3. Then an unstable unemployed left-wing radical engages in violence against the government.

4. Glenn Beck then repeats his criticism of Piven.

5. Finally, the Am. Sociological Assn blames Glenn Beck for his criticism of Piven AND indirectly for the left-wing violence.

Assuming we are not dealing with simple intellectual dishonesty and CYA I’m forced to conclude this is more evidence that to the left their political beliefs have morphed into a religion.

The logic of the Assn escapes me.

Here’s a review of all of Loughner’s reading materials, rather than just one of his books.

Do you really believe that the ‘left’ is responsible for violence and that the ‘right’ is blameless? If anyone believes either side is innocent, they are a fool, much like Freiburger’s foolish post. He’s just trying to win a meaningless argument and demonize political opponents with the actions of a few people, some of whom aren’t even on the ‘left.’

If Von Brunn and Stack belong to the ‘left’ because they are anti-religion, does that mean that everyone on the ‘right’ is religious and their political actions are motivated by religion?

If we use that Freiburger’s faulty logic, than the 9-11 hijackers are conservatives, because they were religious. I certainly don’t believe that, but faulty logic such as Freiburger’s ignores the reality of political violence in America.

I definitely agree with you. Leftist should not be put to blame alone. We should look at the whole perspective of the issue on what really transpired and what make them decide to go against an organization. Those on the “right” are not blameless too because no one will go to “left” if they are satisfied with the situation on the “right”.
