Morning Joe religious and holiday double standard

Am I the only person watching Morning Joe today who notices the massive hypocrisy today?

They spend the whole first segment hitting Jim DeMint for calling Harry Reid’s Christmas move “Sacrilegious” and insist that he should apologize to Reid for “insulting his religion”.

Yet they tease an acrobat act before the pope as “Chippendale” and jokes are made about how “the Pope likes them more than the nuns” and about “ripped men”.

I guess Morning Joe has a flexible definition on what is “insulting” a religion. Calling Harry Reid out for extending the session though Christmas offensive to religion Homoerotic jokes about the leader of one billion Catholics all in good fun. The panel practically couldn’t contain their delight in the 2nd hour.

Why the difference? Because the MSNBC audience likes one but not the other and yes Joe if you want to call for an apology from DeMint how about an on air apology from yourself first, because I guarantee I’m going to call you out on my Christmas Day Radio show if you make one more call for DeMint to apologize without apologizing yourself.

The second piece is even more ridiculous. They are hitting DeMint because of the idea of working through Christmas, they are talking about the troops and bringing up e-mails from nurses etc about how “they work on holidays suck it up” forgetting that the democrats could have brought all of this stuff up BEFORE the lame duck session.

That’s isn’t the double standard, the double standard is the news media. This year Christmas and New Years is on a Saturday so it doesn’t apply so much but how many of these media guys take holidays off? the 4th of July is Monday this year. Let’s see if they have guest hosts. In fact this year I will check CBS, NBC, CNN, ABC, FOX and MSNBC and see how many of the crew who are so self-righteous this morning are hard at work.

Update: They went there again at the top of the hour right after homoerotic pope jokes again. Fine! I formally request an apology over the Pope stuff. I guarantee this will be a top on my Christmas Radio show on the War on The Church and the War on Christmas.

Update 2: Instalanche! Welcome all, come and take a peek. Check out Massachusetts Republicans rearming here. Lets play some word games and find out why Sarah Palin and the tea party are driving the lame duck session. Check out the latest episode of DaTechGuy on DaRadio which featured Pam Geller of Atlas Shrugs and Bob Belvedere of Camp of the Saints for the full hour. Make sure you check out this week’s show at 9 p.m. EST on 830 AM WCRN when our guests will be Dan Riehl for the full hour with special guest the Right Wing Gamer! And please patronize our advertisers of Christmas who make the show and me paying my mortgage possible.

You’re assuming that the MFM (Mother ****ing Media) has standards to begin with.

  2. Barry D says:

    They’re all full of shit.

The Pope and his international child rape ring, Joe and everyone else on MSNBC, Harry Reid, and Jim DeMint.

Don’t get me wrong, I would prefer Jim DeMint as Senate Majority Leader, and Harry Reid out on his butt, but “I’m offended” is the new “last refuge of a scoundrel.”

  3. Dr. Kenneth Noisewater says:

Like the prof said, yes, you’re probably the only one watching Morning Joe full stop.

  4. […] “Am I the only person watching Morning Joe today who notices the massive hypocrisy? You may just be the only person watching Morning Joe today, full stop . . . . […]

Ugh. I was a Morning Joe addict until last summer when Mika admitted to working on her “dossier” with the White House allegedly showing how their response to the BP spill wasn’t as bad as everyone was making it out to be. (Funny how she never made her little dossier public). Since then I’ve dropped in a few times, mostly since the election, only to recall why I left the show in the first place. It has become little more than a platform for Joe, Mika and their regular stable of guests to show off how well-connected they all are and to showcase their moral vanity. The low point was Mika and Jon Meacham’s on sided “interview” with that idiotic Koran-buring preacher, which made me feel slight sympathy for the preacher and red hot contempt for Mika and Meacham. Worse, I feel like I am better informed than the hosts are when I turn on the show. I know they go to bed early, but 30 minutes of extra show prep wouldn’t hurt.

Most gratingly, Joe has been fixated (with Mika chirping in agreement) on how maintaining existing income tax rates (and raising the estate tax from 0% to 35%) will somehow add $1 trillion to the national debt. I know Joe is good on spending cuts, Paul Ryan, etc. but it still makes my teeth itch.

Most mornings these days, I tend to flip on local news to get the weather report and then just turn on some music while I get ready for work.

    RE: Heh

Where there is no religion, hypocrisy becomes good taste.

[Hypocrites are sometimes too easy to shoot, when they’re swimming in the barrels of their narrow minds.]

  7. bskb says:

This is why Joe belongs to the No Labels group. He would be against calling the Pope gay, but implying he is gay is perfectly fine. Nuance!

  8. red says:

Catholics need to start threatening insulters with beheading like another religion.

  9. Bill Hocter says:

datechguy is right. Though frustrating, God wants us to behave better than that.

  10. bmp says:

This is only a continued assault by the Left on Western Civilization.

Mika wont be happy until we are a socialist country and as such she does the White House’s bidding.

  11. Tyring to force a vote on a bill whose contents have not yet been disclosed to those doing the voting – Mormonoism is *for* that sort of thing? Who knew?

  12. el polacko says:

i can appreciate the concerns expressed in this article, but i have to admit that the video of the pope and the shirtless, muscled acrobats gave me a giggle. i’d say it has less to do with being anti-religion than that it illustrates the huge problem the catholics have with their reputation.

  13. Diggs says:

Don’t liberals have a foundational belief about anyone who makes fun of gays? Why yes, they do. They believe that the person making fun of gays is doing so because they are actually a gay who can’t quite bring himself (or herself) to admit they are gay.
    How ’bout it Joe?

  14. “Am I the only person watching Morning Joe today…”

Could be–I certainly was not, and I don’t know anybody who was.

  15. dahospitalityguy says:

Ah so I read that it was DeMint who in fact ‘demanded a full reading…a process that could push the chance for a vote closer to Christmas’

Hmm well perhaps if the Republicans hadn’t delayed so much over the last year/2years and filibuster just about every bill that comes to the floor things would have gotten done just a little bit earlier.

Regular people work on holidays, whats so special about politicians?

DaTechGuy will you be working on Christmas, New Years, etc? I’ll wait and see if there are any blog posts, radio spots, radio shows, sales calls, etc. on those holidays to further my comment regarding the matter.

  16. Bill says:

I am delighted that I had no idea what the Morning Joe is or what network its on until I read this post. Thanks for the heads up so I can avoid this font of obnoxious vituperation going forward

  17. Mary MacKenzie says:

I used to find Joe mildly amusing, but as he becomes more and more an”expert” he is gratingly condescending to all who disagree with him. Just because he served in Congress does not make him an expert on anything. We have seen that all too often. If he is a Republican I am a pregnant alligator! He loves to pull the R’s apart and too often he is chummy with all of his D guests. Whoever books the guests on that show puts 20 Left wingers on before one conservative. Mika just doesnt display much discernment or good sense sometimes. So I shuffle back and forth between the morning cable shows. Imus is looking better and better!

    Totally OT – but –

Anyone who has a Dr Who section in their sidebar ranks mighty highly in my book – I’m linkin’ to ya!

(Christmas Special airs in UK in 6 days – which means BBC America will be airing it soon thereafter).
