the MSM story of the week…

Rush just said on the air that Obama would not have been elected if he wasn’t black.

Watch MSNBC go with this all week.

“If Obama wasn’t black he would be a tour guide in Honolulu”

There is something liberating in saying something everyone knows but doesn’t want to admit.

If this isn’t the main story on Morning Joe tomorrow then it’s only because it was canceled overnight.

Update: Yes I know there was a time where because of his race he might not have had any chance for election to anything. But come on, Obama over Harold Ford? Obama over John Lewis? Cripes ethics issues aside Charlie Rangel is so much more qualified than President Obama that it isn’t funny. Look at the membership of the Congressional Black Caucus and tell me you can’t six people who were more qualified in 2008?

5 Years is all it took

On Jan 30, 2005 back in the days before I was blogging anywhere Glenn Reynolds put up a post about the Iraqi elections and printed this e-mail:

I’m remembering the coy saying about the French resistance. “If everyone who claimed to be in the resistance really had been, there would have been nobody left to collaborate.”

I make the following prediction: In 20 or 25 years (it might not even take that long) all the people who where saying that the war was wrong and Iraq was wrong will talk about how America brought democracy to Iraq and Afghanistan and how they were a part of it due to their protests and desire for democracy and the end of tyranny. (of course they will not mention that the tyranny that they meant was us.) If the same people who write the current history books write them again be sure that this will happen.

Well it’s been 5 1/2 years and here via Gateway Pundit is Joe Biden:

Vice President Joe Biden said after a three-day trip to Baghdad that the American people will see President Barack Obama’s Iraq policy as a success when the “combat mission” ends on schedule Aug. 31. Biden said the administration “will be able to point to it and say, ‘We told you what we’re going to do, and we did it.’”

“I think America wins,” Biden told POLITICO in an end-of-trip interview at the ambassador’s residence in the sprawling U.S. Embassy complex. “I sound corny, but I think America gets credit here in the region. And I think everybody gets credit, from George Bush to [President Obama].

Now for myself as long as we actually win I don’t care and in fairness given his previous statements the President had great potential to mess things up, and didn’t.

Hot air pundit is quite correct that they are mostly taking credit that they don’t deserve for victory, but it’s a lot better than them getting proper credit for our defeat.

Now that the youngest doesn’t have to be out of the house before 7 and the wife doesn’t have to be out by 8:15 or so I haven’t been up for 6 every day so I’ve been missing the start of Morning Joe lately.

But I caught the tail end and Barnicle and Matthews went off on Harry Reid’s opponent Sharron Angle.

Barnicle considers her an idiot, Matthews went off about loving to be “pulling the scab off her” to expose her.

Well after all she has extreme positions like opposing Abortion even in cases of Rape in incest, you know what you call a position like that: “Catholic”.

And it’s not like Reid is doing something low like say building phishing websites.

The Reid campaign activated the prior sections of Angle’s original website where supporters of Angle could enter their e-mail and other contact information for future campaign communications, as well as a form to sign up as a volunteer. I know that the “contact” section was operable because I filled it out the form and hit the “submit” button.

Turning these contact and volunteer functions live must have been a deliberate Reid campaign decision, because the “contribute” function on the spoofed website was inoperable. The Reid campaign clearly wanted to gather names and contact information on Angle supporters, but did not want to go so far as to take fraudulent donations.

Now of course Talking Point Memo (via memeorandum) sees Angle’s complaint as unusual:

Sharron Angle has resorted to an unusual maneuver to counter Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s attacks on her past quotes and positions, the Reid campaign has announced: A cease-and-desist letter, demanding that Reid no longer republish Angle’s previous campaign website.

I’m sure everyone who has ever given their person information to a false website will sympathize with this argument. Meanwhile Lee Cary at American Thinker reports that this is only the beginning:

So, first scrub the voter registration lists looking for phony names. Then, have an army of people prepared to be poll watchers on Election Day, trained to look for voter fraud.

And in the run up to the election, don’t be surprised if the Reid people secretively finance and encourage a third party candidate with the sole purpose of diverting anti-Reid votes to help him in his race against Angle. You don’t think this’ll happen?

It’s articles like this that leave Don Surber to this conclusion:

Pretty desperate but as I have said, polls or not, I expect Dirty Harry to prevail in November.

Let’s hope he’s wrong.

Update: Tweet of the day:

“@SharronAngle is NOT a kook She is us!”
