Race: American! Works for me.

via Robert Stacy, I’m DaTechGuy and I endorse this message from Mark Kirkorian:

Instead, we should answer Question 9 by checking the last option — “Some other race” — and writing in “American.” It’s a truthful answer but at the same time is a way for ordinary citizens to express their rejection of unconstitutional racial classification schemes. In fact, “American” was the plurality ancestry selection for respondents to the 2000 census in four states and several hundred counties.

So remember: Question 9 — “Some other race” — “American”. Pass it on.

I talk a lot about being a Sicilian, but that is said because the “American” part is understood. Maybe it needs to be emphasized a bit more these days.

I’m American I’m proud and lucky to be it and if Sicily was so great my grandparents would have stayed there.

  1. My race is human. My nationality is American.

While we’re speaking about race, there is a very good program on PBS called Faces of America. You can watch the first two episodes here http://www.pbs.org/wnet/facesofamerica/
