Let me give a shout out to Cynthia Yockey the conservative Lesbian…

Like any normal person I have my ups and downs. Even when you find yourself blessed to the degree that I’ve been lately that doesn’t preclude the normal struggles and disappointments of a day or of a life.

So I want to give a big thank you to Cynthia Yockey for starting my very early morning on a very up note with a very kind complement. That is the most wonderful thing about friends, particularly new ones on the net, they can be there for you even when they don’t know they’re doing it.

God tends to provide, who would have guessed that the thing a believing Catholic needed the most one morning was a conservative lesbian?

It is sad to me that many of my conservative and religious friends have antipathy toward gay people. IMHO, we are, for the most part, born with our sexual orientation. What matters in our lives is how we treat one another and how we comport ourselves; not whether or not we’re attracted to people of the opposite or same sex.

Whenever I see my friends who I know are religious and/or very conservative having positive things to say about gay folks – I feel better.

    Thanks!

  2. The orientation is ingrained, and the actual activity is not something that should be legislated one way or the other. So there is, as I see it, no conflict between being a traditional Christian and encouraging g&l participation in policy debates.

Do Cynthia and I have arguments? Of COURSE! But she is a dear person, and a passtionate advocate for free markets. (Not to mention beautiful heirloom tomatoes!)

I personally believe you “repay it” by being the best person you can be – and by passing on the kindness.
