Marco Rubio, the Annie DiMartino of 2010

When I listened to Marco Rubio’s love letter to America and his parents of a speech all I could think of was Annie DiMartino, back during the Brown campaign she said this:

(the snow would fit in very good here in Washington today). If you listen to Marco Rubio’s speech and compare the two you will notice something amazing.

His speech is one that Annie could have made, it is a speech that my parents could have made, and it struck me that if they were Marco’s age instead of in their 70’s they would be conservatives today! In fact some have already abandoned the democratic ship that has abandoned them.

Update: take a look at this excerpt via Hotline:

“I was not born to a wealthy or connected family. And yet, I have never felt or been limited by the circumstances of my birth. I have never once felt like there was something that was not possible for me because of who my parents were, or where they came from. But why is it that I have been able to accomplish many of my dreams, but my grandfather’s dreams never had a chance? The answer is simple. Because I am privileged. The simple privilege of being a citizen of the greatest society in all of human history. There has never been a nation like the United States.”

Pure Annie.

Robert Stacy Finally has credentials

Posted: February 18, 2010 by datechguy in special events

The ultimate irony, Smitty had credentials, Barbara had credentials, mine were found after a bit but Stacy’s could not be found. That proves 2 things…

#1 Carry Cannoli,

and you will get credentials

#2 Wear your fedora.

NEVER forget the Fedora!

Smitty, Barbara and myself all turned up at the table in the Fedoras. We got in. Stacy left his in the room, he was kept out. When he went back and got the fedora, THEN he got in!

Oh listening to Rubio’s speech, it’s VERY good. Rounds of applause from the Bloggers area led by Robert Stacy in Fedora.

Interesting evening and morning…

In addition to the meeting of several bloggers (including Pam Geller again and Barbara Espinosa of the American Freedom blog). Everyone seems extremely excited to be here.

I’m pleased to say I was able to give some small aid to Barbara concerning her PC issues. (this IS Da TECH GUY blog after all) and things turned into a very late night with Stacy, Smitty and Barbara all today wearing Fedoras and ready to blog.

I have actually been so very busy that I’ve not had the chance to do as much as I’ve liked. You will see several short films of various people here, I think the attendees are the story, the avg people who have come from all over the country to be here because they care.

I’m listening to the opening speech by David Keene and his speech is pretty good, but it will not be Keene’s speech but the people attending that will determine if we are successful in our quest to do our best we can for the country so we can leave a better one than we’ve received.

And we’ve received a great country!

I hope to answer a lot of questions but most of all can we find out exactly who the mystery woman of CPAC is?

What is so great about this table is how so many people have met and come back again.

That’s what it’s all about
