As a rule it’s a bad idea to get involved in other people’s fights…

But I owe Peg and Sicilians never forget:

Here is Peg’s post on the subject:

Still, I think it very sad when people have an attitude like Maha seems to have about the world. As much as I disagree with some of the positions liberals take, I just cannot reason from that that millions of my fellow Americans are awful, stupid people. They are not. I may think that some are naive, or haven’t been exposed to some of the experiences that conservatives and/or libertarians have, etc., etc. But terrible people? Nope. And further – possible that I am wrong about some of my reasoning and my opinions? Sure! But if the discussion stops, how will anyone ever know?

Shades of the RedNeck stuff. I confess when it comes to Peg I’ve VERY Biased and left this comment:

Well you know us evil conservatives, we turn up in the most unlikely places to spread our cause to destroy the world, strangle puppies and generally wreak havoc.

Banning Peg, that’s Charles Johnson territory, but hey your blog, your rules.

but there are two sides to every story so in fairness to Mahablog, here is the entire thread. Read it and make up your own mind.

(Mind you the Glenn Beck joke is pretty good.)

  1. Peg says:

    You are sweet, D.T.G.

Someone over at Maha called me a Pollyanna. Sometimes I am.

Personally, however, I’d prefer to be an optimist, try to get on the good side of as many people as I can (without sacrificing my principles) – and work hard toward positive outcomes than not. If this makes me a “Polyanna” – so be it.

That being said – I know all too well that you can’t charm everyone! Not only can you not persuade them to your way of looking at things … you cannot even get them to think you’re a decent person.

OH WELL! I’m glad I’ve got YOU on my side, however! :)

  2. Peg says:

You’re a bridge player?! Hey – now we really have common ground!

Plus – don’t kid yourself. No matter how good you are (and there are many vastly superior to myself) – you can always learn – and you can and will make errors! Part of what makes the game incredibly fascinating and intriguing – and frustrating!
