I think he should have just stuck with his I’m not a Rickey guy.

After Rob Neyer of ESPN, Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, the mighty Deadspin, and a whole slew of bloggers who picked up our lead in questioning Simpson’s glaring omission of MLB’s all-time steals leader from his 2008 Ballot and created an online lynch mob …

Well, Corky wants to say that if he could do it again … he’d vote for Rickey.

Too little, too late in my book.

He also could have said: “Hey if Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Bob Gibson, Rod Carew, Reggie Jackson, Stan Musial, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson or Tom Seaver or any of the other fine candidates of the last 40 years didn’t get in with 100% of the vote what makes Rickey think he deserves that honor?”

Yeah Rickey deserves the vote but C’mon.

Noticed this at the Muqata:

According to PA law the presidency now automatically goes to the Speaker, but (Hamas) Speaker Aziz Dweik is currently in jail in Israel, making (Hamas) Gaza-based Deputy Speaker Ahmed Bahar next in line. Abu Mazeen is claiming he can extend his presidency for up to another year (he has been taking lessons from Ehud Olmert).

I don’t know if anything will come of this but with the UN now trying to bail Hamas out it will be interesting to see if this serves to blunt the impact of the French deal that Hamas rejected that was a PR win for Israel.

Update: Remind me to not hit save while running out the door, I meant to copy and paste one piece of the post and grabbed the whole thing. Just got back and noticed it now. My apologies to the muqata for snarfing his full post it was unintentional.

Fake stuff

We mentioned yesterday how Little Green Footballs confirmed that a photo that was thought to be fake on the war was in fact real.

However this one is bull

And CNN which put it out there had to pull it. But didn’t acknowledge its falsehood and left the article that went up with it. No Correction.

Confederate Yankee points out significant:

It has also been determined that the videographer who filmed his brother’s “death” is the general manager of a company that hosts web sites for Hamas.

Dr. Gilbert was allowed into Gaza by the Israelis just 2 days ago to provide medical care. He was involved in faking war crimes less than 48 hours later.

Remember this next time you hear a reporter whining about access to Gaza.

How bad? This bad.

How tough is the Job market?

I stopped by Mighty Subs after my job interview yesterday. He had a help wanted sign up.

It is a job at a sub shop, he pays ok but it a job at a sub shop.

He normally gets about 5 people from any kind of ad.

He has already had 31 people from former car dealers to prep chefs.

The real clue actually came a few months ago, my oldest son was laid off after two years at leominster News back in July. He has failed to get another . He finally had an interview at a local supermarket (Hannafords).

He was called in for a 2nd interview. A second interview for a Supermarket!

That’s how bad it is.
