If former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin decides to jump into the 2012 presidential race, liberals would be thrilled, an unofficial poll released today shows.
In a straw poll of attendees at the Netroots Nation conference in Las Vegas over the weekend, 48 percent of respondents said they’d like to see Palin as the Republican Party’s 2012 nominee. Rep. Ron Paul came in a distant second, at 11 percent. Ten percent voted for Rick Santorum, 9 percent for Mitt Romney and 8 percent for Newt Gingrich. Seven percent chose Tim Pawlenty, while 5 percent said Mike Huckabee, and 1 percent said Rep. Mike Pence.
I seem to recall that back in 1980 democrats supporting Jimmy Carter were thrilled to death that Ronald Reagan was the Republican they were going to be facing. They were much more worried about this lightweight ex-governor who’s popularity was based on celebrity
Now I’m agnostic on the subject in one respect. Palin is young enough to run any time in the next 20 years, but liberals if you want to face Sarah Palin after 4 years of Jimmy Carter redux, bring it on!
As I recall the republican establishment didn’t care much for Reagan either, Rush is right liberals will tell us who they fear the most.

Sure, intelligent people are not inclined to see our nation’s government handed over to this bubble head. Rarely is Rush right, but on this point he hits a homerun. Sarah would be even worse for the country than Reagan was…..
Where have I heard this description of a candidate whose positions mimic the American Peoples much more than a sitting president, why in 1980!

Gov. Palin was outstanding in her role in Alaska – in fact, in every role she ever took there. “Bubblehead” is a sexist description of a very talented, ethical woman who has an innate executive ability that is extraordinarily rare.
well, i never claimed to be PC…..It’s just my feeling that the woman is just plain dumb….that’s all. Perhaps she strikes a chord with you. That’s ok. But not for me, and from the look of things outside of the right wing base, more than one or two agree with my assessment.
Your certainly entitled to your opinion, I’ve seen her close up several times and she strikes me as exactly the opposite, but people tend to have extreme views on her one way or the other.
To expand on what DTG said, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.
Fact is, David, she’s not dumb.
Fact is, her approval rating (pre- VP nomination) among DEMOCRATS in Alaska was in the high 70% range.
Fact is, she had the highest approval rating of any governor in the entire country.
Fact is, she was leading up nationwide groups before her VP nomination. (Remember the whole thing about how liberals were on her case about coming home on a plane to deliver Trig? Guess what she was doing in Texas?)
Fact is, Palin (even pre-VP nomination) was more accomplished than you’ll ever be.
Fact is, I feel free to rip on Obama for being a total moron because I have just as much legal scholarship as he does and my undergrad degree trumps his. Fact is, you aren’t coming at Palin from a similar position of strength.
So you can say that she “strikes a chord” with me, as if it’s emotional, but when I see a marathoning, high-approval rating, ethics-reforming, natural-gas-pipeline building, nationwide energy expert who kicks butt in office, I don’t have some emotional reaction to her devoid of appreciation for her smarts; I know smart when I see it.
Face it: Palin is an IQ test. Those who stir-fry their brains and serve them over rice in the name of ideological purity ignore all the facts in front of them. Rather than do the intelligent thing and reconcile the woman’s very real accomplishments with their own, emotionally-driven opinions of the woman, they throw around kindergarten-level insults – stooopid! dumb! bubblehead! – and fail to understand that they speak far more of themselves than of her.
